Integral to the College of Teachers is the use of the Growth Coaching Model and the implementation of Instructional Rounds to foster a culture of shared practice across the school.
Senior staff member Len Nixon is leading this initiative within the Barker Institute and he worked with 13 staff on Monday and Tuesday as part of an intensive Professional Learning program which provided the staff with the knowledge, conversation skills and necessary processes to coach other staff across the campus. This initiative will involve members of the Junior, Middle and Senior School in the coming year, branching across all subject areas.
As staff continue to refine their skills, the college will look to implement the coaching process in 2016, encouraging these 13 staff to work with their colleagues in small groups to foster ongoing professional reflection, conversation and growth.
