After presenting a training session to the staff in the afternoon, Anita covered a wide array of strategies and identifiers to watch out for in our students, ranging from Pre-K through to the Senior School.
In an engaging and highly informative session, she shared her research, clinical experience and also referenced her latest book, called ‘The Bonsai Child”, www.bonsaichild.com Key messages were tied to the development of self-regulation and resilience, identifying that parents need to let go and and allow their sons and daughter to grow under their own. She noted how ‘trees need wind to grow strong’ and emphasised how students need to become connected to their own learning journey.
It was fantastic to have Dr Locke share her expertise with the broader Barker community and we look forward to having her visit Barker again in the future.
