Ms Pendergast, an Accredited Training Provider of the Office of the eSafety Commissioner presented to parents around assisting their children use Social Media with awareness.
Of utmost importance is understanding privacy settings for parents and children. Kirra demonstrated how easily identity can be revealed without strong use of privacy settings. She then walked the audience through updating their own privacy settings. Tips of what to look out for in apps such as SnapChat, Youtube, facebook and other emerging popular apps was outlined also.
How to decipher other people’s behaviour online was a powerful message. Much detail was given to how children and teenagers can be groomed unknowingly and how involved in the online world they can be.
